Job Description – Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer
Position Overview
The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for managing maintenance activities, project execution, installation, troubleshooting, safety compliance, and team coordination related to electrical and instrumentation systems within the plant. The role ensures smooth plant operations through effective preventive maintenance, cost optimization, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Management & Work Allocation

Assign daily jobs and responsibilities to electricians and technicians.

Guide and supervise the team to ensure timely and quality completion of work.

Maintain discipline and productivity within the department.
2. Maintenance Planning & Execution
-
Develop and implement annual preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical and instrumentation equipment in consultation with the Head of Engineering.

Record and maintain preventive maintenance data systematically.
-
Ensure proper shutdown permits are obtained before carrying out maintenance activities.
3. Plant Coordination
-
Coordinate with the Plant In-Charge for job execution, breakdown maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Receive work orders from plant departments and ensure timely completion.

Address and resolve maintenance-related issues effectively.
4. Installation & Modification
-
Handle all electrical and instrumentation modification jobs within the plant.

Oversee installation and commissioning of new equipment to ensure readiness for production.

Guide project implementation, including final load testing and commissioning.
5. Project Management

Prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantities) for electrical and instrumentation projects.

Analyze technical drawings, interpret specifications, and determine project requirements.

Manage and monitor assigned projects to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.

Ensure all work is executed as per approved drawings and specifications.

Verify project measurements and ensure accuracy.
6. Cost Control & Efficiency

Optimize resource utilization to reduce consumption costs and improve energy efficiency.

Ensure adherence to approved BOQ rates or Annual Rate Contracts (ARC).

Verify contractor invoices and ensure accurate submission.
7. Safety & Compliance
-
Ensure all operations follow safety standards and statutory regulations.
-
Adhere strictly to SOPs and established procedures.

Promote a culture of safety within the department.
8. Documentation & Reporting
-
Maintain records of maintenance, inspections, and project activities.

Ensure proper documentation of electrical and instrumentation systems.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
-
Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering field.

Experience in Chemical, Pharma, API, or Manufacturing Industry preferred.

Hands-on experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and project execution.
